v1.1.0: Lunatic Update!


Himawari CATASTROPHE! has been updated to post-jam version v1.1.0!

This update adds a new Lunatic difficulty, a harder game mode featuring hyper-aggressive enemies! This update also contains numerous fixes and quality of life changes!

Also, this game won 1st place overall in Touhou Fan Game Jam 15! Thank you for playing!

Changelog:

  • Added attack sounds to regular enemies
  • Added extra gamepad dodge bindings to bumpers and triggers
  • Added low life variants for life bar
  • Added Lunatic difficulty, which changes the game in numerous ways:
    • Enemies inflict double damage
    • Enemies move faster
    • Enemies recover from stagger faster
    • Enemies start moving after spawning faster
    • Enemies that move while attacking move farther
    • Enemy bullets move faster
    • Health items recover more health (and as a result, award more points when overhealing)
    • Player invulnerability after taking damage is shortened
  • Added options menu
  • Added stage clear graphic
  • Added teleport sounds to Yuuka
  • Changed life item text color
  • Decreased small enemy explosion sound volume
  • Fixed enemies receiving knockback from both damage and death simultaneously
  • Fixed enemy telegraph sparkles causing a memory leak by not despawning after finishing their animation
  • Fixed hall of mirrors effect occurring on edges of screen at non-16:9 aspect ratios
  • Fixed life icon (half) having stray pixels
  • Fixed life item text briefly spawning in the wrong place when picking up a second one
  • Fixed name entry screen being able to play the “Here we go!” voice repeatedly
  • Fixed next/previous page buttons in leaderboard not showing the rest of the leaderboard, letting it display up to the top 1000
  • Fixed title screen music looping incorrectly
  • Increased music volume
  • Made enemy corpses no longer push the player or other enemies
  • Made enemy telegraph sparkles move with the enemy they spawned from
  • Made fever mode no longer end when emptying the meter with a special move until the move is finished being performed
  • Made left/right parts of the HUD fade independently instead of simultaneously when near their respective side of the screen
  • Made name entry screen no longer appear before a game starts once one game has been started
  • Tweaked credits screen formatting
  • Tweaked leaderboard screen formatting
  • Tweaked player hit particles
  • Tweaked sprite draw order
  • Tweaked title screen appearance
  • Tweaked Yuuka’s AI to be able to walk towards the player when at a medium distance to them instead of always attacking
